STEP 4 Collecting the Evidence and Making the Assessment Decision

When it comes to making assessment decisions, especially those that involve assessing someone's competency, collecting evidence is crucial.

Evidence can come in many forms, including direct observations, interviews, tests, and reports. These pieces of evidence can be used by you to determine competency.

Collecting evidence involves being thorough, objective, and systematic. It is important to gather all relevant information and document it accurately to ensure that the assessment decision is fair and unbiased. Using the rules of evidence, you need to ensure of the validity, recency, currency, authenticity, validity and sufficiency of these pieces of evidence that you were able to gather.

Using the four Dimensions of competency with these gathered pieces of evidence, you will be able to determine if the competency is sufficient enough to make an assessment decision.

After the evidence has been analyzed, the next step is to make the assessment decision. This decision may involve determining whether a candidate is competent enough or still requires additional training. (not yet competent)
